Event description
Pranayama: The ancient wisdom for the modern man - If you cannot travel to India, let the ancient knowledge of India come to you!

About this Event

Learn techniques created by the oldest, organised school of classical yoga specifically developed for the modern person.

We are all familiar with the 3rd limb of Ashtanga Yoga, “Asana”, or the postures of Yoga. However, how much do you know about the 4th limb, “Pranayama”, a significant prerequisite to experience a state of meditation.

Join this unique two-day, intensive Pranayama workshop that will enable you to overcome mood swings, compulsive emotions (e.g., anger and anxiety), help relieve chronic pain, increase energy levels, enhance lung capacity, improve digestion, normalise body weight and improve sleep quality, as well as assist you to reach deeper states of meditation, and move your life in the direction where you want it to go.

Who is presenting the workshop?

Sabina Dzafic is a genuine and friendly Yoga teacher, who has a Bachelor in Psychological Science with Honours (St Lucia, UQ), she has taught Mindfulness workshops around Brisbane as a Provisional Psychologist while studying the Master of Clinical Psychology at UQ.

She is also a certified Pilates instructor and a Level 3 Yoga teacher. She has completed over 1000 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga schools in India and in Australia, she has over 8 years of experience teaching Yoga. This allows her to present both psychological and yogic material in her workshops.

What is this workshop all about?

Breath is associated with every living being. In Yoga, it is called Prana – the vital energy that sustains life. Yogis of yore discovered profound experiences through the simple process of breath awareness and altering the breathing process. Using these Pranayama methods, you are no longer a slave to your mind, instead you become the master of your mind, when this happens, regardless of your outer environment, your inner environment remains at ease. As stated in Hatha Yoga Pradipika (11.2), “As the breath moves, so does the mind, when one is steadied, the other too becomes steady.” This workshop will also cover the psychological theories of emotion regulation and connect this to breath awareness.

Why choose this Pranayama workshop?

This is unlike any other Pranayama workshop that has been previously developed, as it incorporates the Eastern ancient understanding of Yoga with the findings of Western modern Psychology. The Pranayama techniques of this workshop were developed by Shri Yogendraji, a genuine Yogi and the founder of the first organised school of classical yoga: The Yoga Institute (Mumbai, India).

Who is this workshop for?

• Beginner and experienced yoga practitioners.

• Anyone who wants to improve their physical health and harness the activity of their mind.

What will I receive if I attend?

• An understanding of the meaning and significance of Prana and Pranayama according to the classical Yoga texts.

• Ten different Pranayama techniques, that have been specifically designed by Shri Yogendraji for the modern person and are not available to be taught anywhere other than The Yoga Institute.

• Safe and simple instructions for how to master these above techniques, plus how to incorporate them into your own daily meditation practice.

• An outline of the benefits of each Pranayama, at the physical, psychological, and mystical level.

• You will get to taste healthy, high prana meals that will make your body and mind function better and are conducive for your spiritual growth.
