About this event

La Trobe’s Strategic Plan 2020-2030 highlights the commitment to authenticate work-based learning experiences as part of professional practice, and to use educational technology to support our approaches to work-based learning as part of our daily teaching practice.

Work-based learning is an educational method that immerses students in the workplace, prompting them to learn about the environment in which they’ll be working and to complete typical tasks as part of their professional and/or clinical internships or work placements. This also includes remote and virtual placements, which are enabling larger numbers of students to gain work-based learning experience.

This seminar explores the use of educational technology to support work-based learning. We will discuss the use of educational technology in this space, from learning experiences at subject level to course-wide approaches in professionally accredited courses.

At the conclusion of this session, you should be able to

  • Define work-based learning in terms of a range of experiences and approaches
  • Discuss the various ways educational technology supports work-based learning experiences in your curriculum
