About this event

Do you want to know more about the ins and outs of genomic testing in your oncology practice? This workshop is for you!

Participants are provided with background reading on genomic testing in oncology ahead of this interactive online workshop. The workshop focuses on clinical case studies. In small groups you will discuss key aspects of clinical genomics such as the appropriate test, variant classification, interpreting a genomics test report and understanding the therapeutic implications of the test result. Group discussions are supported by facilitators with genomics expertise.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Describe the advantages and limitations of different genomic tests in cancer
  • Understand the range of variants contributing to cancers
  • Recognise the importance of family history in relation to inherited cancer susceptibility variants identified by genomic testing
  • Understand the principals of variant classifications based on ACMG /AMP guidelines
  • Interpret the validity and implications of a genomic report
  • Interpret and apply the therapeutic implications of a genomic test result

Join the genomics experts, led by Dr Kortnye Smith, Medical Oncologist, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, to learn more about genomic testing in oncology.
