The Office of the Public Advocate: Powers of Attorneys and Understanding Consent and Capacity
Are you working confused about power of attorney and guardianship issues? This webinar is an introduction to such issues and will describe the function of the Office of the Public Advocate (OPA). It will explain topics such as enduring power of attorney (EPOA), Medical Treatment Decision Maker, Guardianship and Administration. Katie will define these terms and explain how to set up such functions. Katie will also clarify how consent and capacity are defined and assessed.
About the Presenter
Katie is a social worker with extensive experience in the disability, education and training sectors. Kate has worked for more than eight years s as a trainer and assessor in community services. Katie has also worked for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS) as a Disability Behaviour Support Practitioner. She has also worked as an NDIS planner, and more recently as the education and engagement officer for the Office of the Public Advocate.
