Power Plants for Everyday Wellbeing
Folk herbal medicine was traditionally a part of daily life. Today we are enjoying a resurgent interest in herbs and Power Plants for their diverse cultural benefits such as increased happiness, energy for partying or long stretches of demanding work, recovery from stressful stints, relaxation for the much needed down tempo moments and every day healthy wellbeing. We also want more out of life, to think clearer & smarter for our work, to prevent dis~ease, to experience greater euphoria and to enjoy ourselves more fully with others.
Join Annaliese on a fun and informative exploration into herbs we can use in our every day lives to live extraordinary lives!!
This two part session will be experiential, informative and practical, giving you an opportunity to taste and be curious about a brilliant selection of Power Plants you can tailor to the demands of your life.
After a ceremonial Palo Santo smudging, together we will delve into appreciating the different benefits a selection of morning teas will bring us to start our day.
We will then go on an interactive exploration journey as Annaliese presents a selection of her favourite Power Plants, illuminating their traditional uses and how she uses them for different purposes depending on the situation and intention. This is presented with a slide show (available to participants) with descriptive images of the plants plus their benefits. Many samples will be available for you to examine, smell and taste.
There will be time for questions and deeper discussion of their uses for you to continue in your research and experimentation.
We will have a walk in the Northy Street gardens identifying some of our local Power Plants. We will look at their growth forms, their growth requirements, microclimate and how to propagate these special plants, taking some of these plant samples home with you.
We will look at harvesting, drying, storing techniques and seasonality of gathering the plants from nature. In this time we will develop our relationships and respect for the plants before we harvest, during their preparation and especially at the time we use them.
Conservation is important for plants to continue so we will pay attention to this in our harvesting, and also talk about conservation ethics when purchasing plants for use.
Finally Annaliese will demonstrate how to make home made herbal preparations such as decoctions & tinctures and delve into the use of plant tinctures and when they can power us up in our daily lives.
This presentation has been well attended in the last 2 months, offered at Rainbow Serpent Festival (VIC), Luminate Festival (NZ) and at various community venues, with overwhelming responses from participants with a hunger for this kind of information sharing.
Bring a journal, cup and an open curiosity for what the plant kingdom can offer you.
