Power of Play

An Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Specific Masterclass.

Firefly HR are excited to announce that Angus and Isiah from The Outsiders: Play Advocates are coming to Sydney for the first time!

As OSHC professionals themselves, they know the profession we work in and understand the complex nature of the industry and the barriers we all face putting play into action.

They will be delivering content on 3 topics:

  1. Practical Playwork

  2. The Benefits Of Loose Parts Play

  3. Minimizing Behaviour Issues Through Engagement

As OSHC professionals ourselves at Firefly HR, we too know the profession we work in and are looking forward to bringing Angus and Isiah from The Outsiders: Play Advocates to you.

Book in for this OSHC specific Masterclass to gain valuable professional development that can be used practically in your OSHC service and to network with other OSHC professionals.

  1. Practical Playwork: This session looks at playwork principles used to enhance the play setting and create authentic play experiences for OSHC children. Will help to instil confidence in educators abilities to imbed these principles into day to day practice.

  2. The Benefits of Loose Parts Play: This session looks at a practical side of how educators and centres can manage loose parts play and the theory behind why educators and centres would want to consider loose parts play.

  3. Minimising Behaviour Issues Through Engagement: This session looks at behaviour management and digs deeper into this area to give educators more of an in depth idea on the topic, especially in regards to play and being engaged. It aims to get educators to think of all aspects of behaviour and how to get all stakeholders on the same page.

By day, the Outsiders all practice what they preach in the field so to speak as playworkers at Camp Hill Outside School Hours Care, a service known for its cutting edge application of genuine free play and playwork principles into the daily practice. By appointment, The Outsiders offer information and practical stories that delve deeper into the realms of play, play theory and the many developmental benefits that surround it. Our team provides real-life stories married with theory to inspire more play journeys.

The presenters are:

Isaih Tueta: Isaih Tueta has worked at Camp Hill OSHC since 2012. He splits his time between being one of the centers playworkers and being the assistant program manager. Through his roles in the industry, Isaih has experience in practically applying playwork principles and pedagogies to an OSHC setting, as well as making it fit in with the MTOP framework ensuring a smooth program and routine that allows the children maximum freedom and play experiences.
