Event description
The Sydney Connection curates dining walks around our favourite inner city precincts of Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Potts Point.

About this Event

If you have ever wanted to pretend you are living in the 1930’s our first bar on the Potts Point dining walk is for you. Sit in a plush velvet booth, surrounded by vintage lamps and the owner’s personal collection of historical Sydney prints & portraits. If only the walls could talk in this converted strip club.

Potts Point has been entertaining locals & visitors alike since the 1940’s and she does it well. Whether your dining alfresco on a vibrant laneway with seventies-style lights or in an eccentric old terrace house of a back street, you will feel the history but also enjoy the innovation of the young chefs and mixologists who call PoPo home.

The grandness of the Macleay Street art deco apartment blocks and dining rooms will transport you to Europe but with an Australian accent.

The Sydney Connection curates dining walks around our favourite inner city precincts of Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Potts Point. Accompanied by a well-connected guide, our walks are aimed at visitors and Sydneysiders who want to go ‘where the locals go’ for inspiring food, good service and cool interiors.

We take bookings for between 1 - 6 Guests per booking and visit 3 venues on each walk. Enjoying a different course at each venue accompanied by matching wine at the first two venues.

Our Potts Point dining walk starts at Dulcie's a cocktail bar set in the 1930's on Darlinghurst Road

COVID Safety measures

We have made a few key changes to our format to assist in managing Rona and ensure a relaxed evening out:

  • We are limiting our group size to 6 guests
  • Enjoying 3 courses and spending 45 minutes at each venue
  • Booking separate Ubers for guests & guide if you booked a pick-up
  • Practicing social distancing and wearing masks if necessary on the walk between venues
  • Dining at restaurants that adhere to the 2 square measure rule between tables
  • Indulging in a sit-down dessert - with sparkling - instead of lining-up for gelato
  • Giving a complimentary bottle of Sydney Distillery sanitiser to each guest
  • Plus of course we are packing masks in case you forgot yours!

FAQs

Is the starting point for each dining walk near public transport? Yes all of our starting points are no more than a 10 minute walk from a train station or bus stop.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? Because we are visiting licensed drinking establishments our wine & dine with a local walks are only for 18+ aged guests. Unless otherwise negotiated prior to booking.

What if we want to go on a Potts Point Dining Walk on another night of the week? Unfortunately this is not possible for the 3 course option. You would need to book a private dining walk with the four course option to go on a Potts Point walk on another night.

Are you able to cater for special dietary needs? Yes as long as you tick the appropriate box in the bookings form we are able to cater for most dietary requests including: vegetarian, allergies, gluten intolerance and dairy intolerance.

Are you able to create a walk suitable for disabled guests? Certainly - as long you let us know in advance - we can choose flat terrain and easy access venues for disabled guests. Just be mindful that the distance between venues can be between 5 -15 minutes of travel so guest will need to be able to manage this distance comfortably especially if part of a larger group.

What should I wear? Although Sydney is a casual & relaxed city we encourage our guests to dress for dinner as we will be dining in some pretty trendy places.

What shoes should I wear? Leave the Lady Gaga heels at home as we will be walking between venues so comfy shoes are best!

What is the difference between a group and a private booking?

Group bookings include all of the above and other travelers may join the group with a maximum of ten guests per group. You will need to meet us at the first venue.

Private bookings are only for you and your crew. We will throw in the option of an Uber pick-up from your inner city hotel.

Where can I contact the organiser with any other questions? Please email us at maree@thesydneyconnection.com.au with any queries or refer to our website FAQ
