Following the recent tragedy in Christchurch, the Australian Government is proposing the introduction of new legislation that would penalise social media companies for failing to remove violent material. Join a panel of academic staff and alumni from UNSW Arts & Social Sciences as they discuss the topics of censorship, social media and who is ultimately responsible for user-generated content.

The future of cities: at breaking point or poised for success? (Built Environment)
The world’s population is projected to reach 8.5 billion by 2030. Are we at breaking point or on the verge of new exciting breakthroughs in the planning and development of urban spaces? Hear from our panel of students, alumni and experts on how built environment professionals can work together to create smart, resilient, sustainable and healthy cities. Moderated by Dr Philip Oldfield, Director of the UNSW Architecture Program, the panel will feature Vanessa Trowell, Director of Urbana and Executive Director of Archikidz, Terrence Chau, Senior Architect at Architectus, and Rachel Moody, UNSW Master of Architecture student.

*NEW* Law of the sea from the Perspective of a Beluga Spy Whale (Law)
The recent appearance of a beluga whale wearing a harness and fitted for go-pro cameras in Norwegian waters raised speculation that the whale was being used as part of a Russian spy program. This incident prompts a myriad of questions, including whether such a thing is even allowed as a matter of law. This Master Class will examine the different answers that the law of the sea provides in regulating whales and spying, as well the marine environment, animal welfare and military use of the oceans.

Case Study: The Spread of Measles (Medicine)
Why is a preventable disease spreading throughout Sydney? Learn how social science and health communication is being used to fight the spread of measles in Sydney. This session is presented by our Public Health academics and the graduates who are building the future of healthcare.
