About this event

UNSW Canberra and the UNSW AGSM Alumni Committee, Canberra invite you to join Hon. Graham Perrett, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, and Hon. Scott Buchholz , Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, in conversation with Former Senator Kate Lundy for an insider's look into politics in Canberra.

As former Whips, Perrett and Buchholz really have seen it all and have unrivalled knowledge of what goes on behind closed doors at Parliament House.

The in-conversation component of the event will be followed by drinks, nibbles and networking. This event will follow Chatham House rules and tickets are limited so be sure to get in quick so you don't miss out.

Speakers

The Hon. Scott Buchholz

The Hon. Scott Buchholz is a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland and has been an assistant minister in the Morrison government since 2018. He has represented the seat of Wright since 2010. Buchholz served as chief government whip in the House of Representatives in the Abbott Government in 2015. Prior to entering politics Buchholz was a businessman in the transport industry.

The Hon. Graham Perrett

The Hon. Graham Perrett is a member of the Australian Labor Party. He has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2007, representing the Queensland seat of Moreton. Perrett was appointed as a Government whip in May 2013, holding the position until Labor's defeat at the 2013 election. He is currently the Shadow Assistant Minister for Education. Prior to entering into politics Perrett worked as a schoolteacher and political staffer.

Former Senator Kate Lundy

Kate Lundy is a former Labor Party member of the Australian Senate, representing the ACT. Lundy served as the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and the Minister Assisting for the Digital Economy in the Second Rudd Ministry, having previously served as the Minister for Sport and the Minister Assisting for Industry and Innovation. Lundy is now a Company Director.
