Sat. 19 November 2016, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm AEDT
Guided tour on our local pollinators at Sydney Park
Come and celebrate National Pollinator Week and learn about what pollinators are important in our local environment. Pollinator Week acknowledges our important and unique insect pollinators during our spring. It is a designated week when community, business and organisations can come together to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators and support their needs. On this guided tour, you’ll get an insight into what efforts are being made to create habitat for our pollinators to persist in the city. You’ll also get an insight into the wonderful world of ants and their role in ensuring that the pollinators job continues on.
About the facilitator Associate Professor Dieter Hochuli research focuses on insect-plant interactions. He is particularly interested in our invertebrates and the urban environment as understanding how urban ecosystems work is vital to a city’s sustainability. Much of his research examines the impacts of urbanization and how we can manage what we still have as well as restore degraded systems.
