Build the confidence to write and perform your own poetry

About this event

In celebration of Poetry Month, explore the world of poetry for performance. Acclaimed poet and performer Melanie Ree will help you build the confidence to enliven your poetic works. You will dive into short poetry writing activities and performance techniques to help your poems spark to life. Whether it’s for a small venue or for an arena, this beginner-friendly poetry workshop will prepare you and your poems for the world.

This workshop is for Youth participants ages 16-24.

We follow NSW Public Health Orders. See conditions of entry here.

Melanie Ree trained as an actor and identifies as a dancer, poet and fierce woman. Born in Papua New Guinea to the daughter of a chief, her ancestors sit at the base of her spine spurring her on to tell her story, hoping to spark wildfires within listeners that burn down differences, uniting us in our pain and understanding of this human condition.
