Event description

Description

This workshop is a time to get together over poetry in Carlton.

We’ll consider poetry’s presence in our lives. What seasoned words stay with us? What do we receive? How does poetry awaken, steady or comfort us? What role might poetry play around end of life?

There just seven places in this workshop, as I’m testing the waters, to see how we find a gathering on this topic. I’ve chosen a central location, and an intimate space. I hope you’ll enjoy meeting new people and getting word of new poets, and putting a few lines on paper.

Did you know that Emily Dickinson used to tuck little poems into gorgeous bouquets of flowers from her garden that she gave to her neighbours? I’m following her lead and asking each person who attends to bring a gift of 5 lines from a favourite poem, a treasure for another participant to tuck up their sleeve!
