Ever wanted to start your own podcast? This podcast course is essential training that'll take the mystery out of launching a great podcast.

About this event

By the end of this podcast training you'll walk away with a clear understanding of how podcasting works, what you need to do to start your own podcast, the confidence and tools to start your podcast, and how to make it successful.

Where the podcast course is taught

This course is taught online using live video streaming.

Your trainer is there with you live. The class size is also small - so you’ll be able to ask questions. The course comes with a one-month free consultation following the class.

We're based in Sydney and have attendees from cities across Australia (like Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Newcastle, Wollongong, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast) and NZ (Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch), but you can do this course wherever you are in the world. (The course cost comes down to half as much if you're in the UK and one-third less if you're in the US.)

Who is teaching the podcast course?

Phil Stubbs has experience not just in podcasting, but also in journalism, teaching at tertiary level, and professionally in digital marketing and advertising.

Phil started his career in the media working for leading advertising agencies including The Campaign Palace - where he received a solid foundation in communication strategy, creative concept development and media production.

He spent 15 years as a Lecturer in Communication at Western Sydney University and Charles Sturt University - where he taught marketing communication and new media.

He now runs Media School where he focuses on digital media training - helping folks from startups, small businesses, government, NGO's and people in marketing & communication roles learn to use new media to promote their business, cause or passion project.

Phil is currently presenter and producer of his own passion project The Environment Show, a podcast which has reached number 4 in the News & Politics section of Apple iTunes.

He's been an environmental reporter and current affairs presenter for Radio 2SER (Sydney Educational Radio.) He originally launched The Environment Show on 2SER before listing it on iTunes. (iTunes is now known as Apple Podcasts.)

This course is for you if you have an idea for a podcast and want to learn how to get it off the ground. Or maybe you've made a start but are unsure how to really get it moving. Or you simply love podcasts and want to learn how they come together.

How we teach this podcast workshop

Our aim is to de-mystify podcasting and inspire you to get going.

We do it using a mix of: best practice principles, inspiring examples, interesting short videos, simple demonstrations, some hands-on activities and creative exercises.

This course is one day, but we pack in a lot. We guarantee to give you your money's worth!

This podcast course is taught live via using Zoom (live streaming.) It’s a small class so you’ll be able to ask questions. And you’re welcome to call me after the course if still need help. (It comes with a one-month free consultation.)

What to bring to the podcast course

The main thing you need is an idea for a podcast (even a rough one.)

You're encouraged to bring a laptop and smartphone - so you can see how to simply start a podcast with everyday work tools.

You don't need a microphone, recorder and headphones, but if you have them you're welcome to bring them along.

Podcasting is simpler and easier than you think to get started. We can show you how (in one day even!)

To keep your podcast going? That can get harder. So you need to have a plan and a system. We can also help you with that - to put a solid foundation and thinking in place to help you long after the course.
