Event description

Description

Using play methodologies to think outside the box and innovate intelligently

Every organisation wants to be innovative, creative and to stand out in the market. We want engaged visitors whose needs are met while they are surprised and delighted by the experience they’ve received. It’s no small feat to achieve all this and yet, it’s something that can be fun and easy to do with the right tools at our disposal.

Drawing on playful innovations in tourism around the world, and utilising concepts from play theory, play science, theatre and game design, this session will show you how you can rethink and redesign your work space. The tools provided in this workshop will equip you to create fun, unique and meaningful experiences for customers.

Key topics to be covereded:

  • What is Play?
  • Tool 1: From Workplace to Playspace - how to create a playful (and innovative) work culture using examples from around the world
  • Tool 2: Situational Game Design - Understanding customers and applying global examples to your business
  • Tool 3: LEGO Serious Play - A tool for thinking differently

Facilitator:

Daniel Teitelbaum

Daniel is an educator and freelance producer. Previously he was Head of Content at The School of Life in Australia and prior to that, made up part of the strategy team at Small Giants. Daniel spent his younger days in youth leadership and informal education, running weekly programs and seasonal camps for primary and high school children for youth led organisations, where he learnt first-hand how important play is for healthy emotional and intellectual development.

Inclusions: facilitation, morning, afternoon tea and lunch.
