Mastering Pretend Play!
Playing is an essential occupation for all children: it is what helps children learn!
Some children find it hard to play. And sometimes they need a little bit of help to develop their play skills...
At the end of January Soetkin travelled to Brisbane to take part in an advanced training around developing Pretend Play Skills.
Pretend Play is the highest form of play and helps in mastering language, literacy and numeracy skills as well as social skills!

Parent & Child Play Skills Workshop! - 4 sessions
This is a series of 4 sessions which kids (and parents) will love!!
We will be using a variety of toys and play techniques.
The games we will play during these sessions are targeted specifically to children between the ages of 2yo and 7yo to help them develop their (pretend) play skills.
Learn to Play with Parents (LPP) is a programme to develop the spontaneous initiation of pretend play skills of children. Research tells us that pretend play is important for children in developing problem solving, flexible thinking, and logical sequences in their thoughts. When learn how to play, they begin to understand the play of their peers and pretend play is important for their emotional well-being. Many children cannot play; this programme helps parents learn active ways to help their children increase their spontaneous, pretend play, with the direct assistance of a play/occupational therapist. This approach can be used for children with developmental delay, learning problems, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down’s syndrome, and neurological conditions.
You can book a ticket to for the 4-week series via the ticket link. Cost is $200.00 per 4-week series (+ $9.99 booking fee ->> $50.00 per session for 4 sessions).
