PLACE ACADEMY Training Sessions: A comprehensive and hands-on, two part series.

Join our training sessions to learn about creating extraordinary places for people. Discover everything you need to know to implement a successful strategic, creative and digital placemaking approach.

TRAINING SESSIONS 1 & 2

SESSION 1 (8:30 am - 1:30 pm) will focus on understanding the trends, best practice and placemaking innovations from Australia and globally. We will show you how these ideas can be translated to your unique public spaces, introducing you to strategic, creative & digital placemaking.

SESSION 2 (1 pm - 4:30 pm) will build on the SESSION 1 introduction - showing you how to apply best practice, in hands-on workshops that provide innovative solutions for placemaking issues. You will learn first hand how to plan, innovate and execute a placemaking strategy.

1. (SESSION 2) Strategic Placemaking with JO KELLY || Strategic Place Planner Expert || Director PEOPLE PLACE AND PARTNERSHIP

In the Strategic Placemaking workshop, attendees will be given tools to create sustainable placemaking strategies, by learning how to:

  • Understand why placemaking is relevant

  • Explore the different components of a place and why they matter

  • Develop a strong and considered strategy

  • Connect with and manage stakeholders

2. (SESSION 2) Creative Placemaking with EMILYA COLLIVER || Arts & Culture Placemaker || Founder & Director ART PHARMACY CONSULTING

In the Creative Placemaking workshop, attendees will ensure the longevity of future creative placemaking projects, by learning how to:

  • Define creative goals and communicate them effectively

  • Identify roadblocks & make them work in the project’s favour

  • Write an effective & detailed brief

  • Make projects happen with an art committee

3. (SESSION 2) Digital Placemaking with EMILE RADEMEYER || Digital Activation Expert || Creative Director VANDAL

In the Digital Placemaking workshop, attendees will learn how to put a robust digital placemaking strategy in place, by learning how to:

  • Identify a digital project’s target market & goals

  • Dream big when it comes to digital ideas & creative possibility

  • Understand basic digital considerations, as well as physical and budgetary restrictions

  • Use data before, during and after a project

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

16-30 Vine Street is less than a five minute walk from Redfern train station. As there is limited, two hour car parking in the area, we strongly suggest you take public transport.

What's the refund policy?

A ticket can be refunded up to 30 days prior to initial event (11:59PM 13th March 2018)

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Tickets can have name changed up to 7 days before event (11:59PM 5th April 2018)
