Darren Sharp is a sharing economy strategist, Australian editor of Shareable, Melbourne coordinator of the Sharing Cities Network and a global curator for Collaborative Consumption. He provides leadership in social innovation, the urban commons and sharing cities. He will join us as part of the Pivot Connect Community Festival to discuss and showcase local and international case studies that demonstrate how the Sharing Economy is fostering digital and social inclusion to build stronger community connections.
He will discuss the exciting new story for a new economy, The Sharing Economy. An idea that is going mainstream and is often talked about in terms of matching needs with haves and connecting supply and demand at the peer to peer level. This new economy is also giving rise to the next generation of innovative enterprises. Sharing enables more efficient use of resources, reduces waste and helps build community collaboration at the local level. The presentation will showcase local and international case studies and demonstrate how the Sharing Economy is fostering digital and social inclusion to build stronger community connections. Following the keynote presentation, Darren will be joined by documentary maker and researcher, Dr Fiona Gray and Kathy Reid, independent digital consultant and instigator of Creative Geelong Makerspace for two lightning talks and an insightful Q & A session.
