Piecing Together Stories of Migration
Event Information
About this Event
In this free professional learning event for educators, find out how to support your students to piece together stories of migration at the State Library. Be guided through workshops, exhibitions and supporting resources which will allow you to organise a one-day immersive excursion experience for your students
Experience the guided workshop, Suitcases: Stories of Migration, where students will explore primary source materials from the State Library collection to understand Western Australian migration experiences.
See how the photographic exhibition, A Place to Call Home, provides opportunity for students to engage in national stories of migration from the post-war period. Walk through the exhibition of illustrations and drafts from the book, Ten Pound Pom (Walker Books 2017), and consider how primary source documents and personal stories of migration can be incorporated into the creation of illustration and historical narrative.
Discover teacher resources that can be used to extend student learning of migration back in the classroom.
