Event description

Description

Piano Bar is extremely proud to present a special performance of :: Cyrens

The Swingin’ Songbook of Cy Coleman.

A musical revue celebrating the legendary Broadway composer and jazzman Cy Coleman.

Cy Coleman was a multi Tony Award winning composer of shows such as Sweet Charity, Barnum, On the Twentieth Century, The Life and City of Angels but his musical roots were in the jazz world. Coleman was a virtuosic jazz pianist. He recorded several bestselling albums with the famed Cy Coleman Trio. His show tunes were in a class of their own he was always reaching for that special chord, that unexpected rhythm. He was definitely the coolest cat on Broadway!

Cy Coleman’s songs are known for their sophistication and wit.

Amanda Harrison (Wicked), Chelsea Renton-Gibb (Chicago) and Melissa Langton (The Fabulous Singlettes) are also known for their sophistication and wit – but more for singing loud and high and knowing how to sell the hell out of a song!

Siren (noun): 1. A woman who is very attractive, but also dangerous.

2. A piece of equipment that produces a loud, high pitched warning sign. Cyrens (noun): All of the above. Add Cy.

Coleman wrote hits for Sinatra, Bassey and Tony Bennett – but “Witchcraft’, "Big Spender’ and “The Best Is Yet To Come’ are just the tip of the musical iceberg!

Cyrens is performed with a four piece band, some dangerously close three part harmony, a few jokes and a dash of Bob Fosse.

“Fun, Laughs, Good time!”
Devised and arranged by Mark Jones
