We will showcase the diverse range of career opportunities that a physics research qualification can lead to and how you can get there.

About this Event

The event is aimed at prospective and current honours and PhD students.

Our aim is to showcase the diverse range of career opportunities that a physics research qualification can lead to. You will hear about the experiences of a range of scientists who are pursuing careers outside of academia.

Speakers:

1. Dr Maaike Wienk (Aust Maths Institute) - Author of the CSIRO/AMSCI report ‘who are the top PhD employers?’

2. Robin Stevenson - Data analyst at Australian Department of Health, working on projects analysing patient data from Hospitals, PBS and MBS to better target policy and quantify the impact of policy decisions.

3. Dr Tiago Ortega - Optical engineer working on LiDAR systems for autonomous driving at Bajara.

4. Prof Daniel Shaddock - Director's Fellow at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has also worked in academia, and now runs a start-up company Liquid Instruments.
