Saturday 16th December: Physicality of the Actor/Singer + Approach to Text

Run by Nicholas Cannon, these Stagecraft classes will help develop play and educate your body for performance on stage with connection to voice, action and text.

Purchase single session tickets or attend both sessions for a discounted price. Each session will be held twice, with a morning session (10.30am-1.30pm), and a repeat afternoon session (2.30pm-5.30pm). There will be a maximum of 20 people in each time slot.

Please note that if there are less than 8 people registered for your time slot, you may be asked to attend another session.


Nicholas Cannon

Director, Performer, Teacher

Nicholas trained in the theatre technique of Jacques Lecoq in Barcelona and Paris plus the Music Theatre degree at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth. He has taught stagecraft at the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music and for the State Opera of SA.

Performance roles include Quick in Cloudstreet, Papageno in The Magic Flute with State Opera SA; The Kalif in Der Barbier von Bagdad and Graf Homonay in Der Zigeunerbaron at the Coburg Landestheater, Germany; Lord in Shakespeare’s As You Like It with The Principle Theatre Company, London; The Cranky Bear with Patch Theatre Company; Resident Baritone with Co-Opera SA singing, Onegin, Figaro, Don Alfonso, Marcello, Sharpless, Falke, Papageno and Count di Luna; It's a Dad Thing with Singular Productions; Metro Street in The Adelaide Cabaret Festival; seven months performing in Tokyo Disneyland plus roles in Camelot, Kiss Me Kate and Carousel with the Production Company Melbourne and also some TV appearances.

As a stage director, he recently directed La Vida Breve for State Opera SA. Assistant Director Internships with Opera Australia working on Cavalleria Rusticana/Il Pagliacci, Otello, Don Giovanni and The Elixir of Love and at the Coburg Landestheater in Germany on the productions of Madama Butterfly and Der Zigeunerbaron. He is the Artistic Director of ‘Mopoke Theatre Productions’ for which he directed Dido and Aeneas in association with Ensemble Galante plus The Old Maid and the Thief in association with Co-Opera. Other productions directed are Price Check for Loaded Productions in Adelaide, L’Heure Espagnole/Gianni Schicchi(co-director) for the Lyric Opera of Melbourne, The Gondoliers for Pacific Opera in Sydney, Tosca in Melbourne and regional Victoria, plus La Clemenza di Tito, Cosi Fan Tutte (nominated for an Adelaide Critics Circle Award), Suor Angelica and Eugene Onegin for Co-Opera touring regional Australia.
