Event description

Description

The clothes we wear, the chairs we sit on, the drapes in the background, the sheets on the bed. Fabric is a common feature in photographs and image making.

When fabric has been considered and photographed well, the image takes on mood. It can draw the eye accross the image and used cleverly in composition design.

The image is elevated from merely “hope-for-the-best” to fully realised in every detail.

The workshop will cover:

  • Light Absorbent Fabric

  • Light Reflective Fabric

  • Texture: Clothing and Furniture

As a group we will play with studio lighting within a photographic set containing the above materials. You will leave the class with fabric lighting guides that you have created and confidence in your ability to re-create the look. Your new skills will enable you to creatively pursue ideas using fabric and lighting knowledge. Examples of work, both painting and photographic will be shown to illustrate concepts and inspire your own.

Participants are asked to bring their camera, SD card, notebook, pen and USB.

Technical Photographic Skill Level: Intermediate
