Join Wildlife Photographer of the Year 54 Winner and bird photography specialist, Georgina Steytler for a photography mini masterclass, combining theory and practical work.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from the first Australian woman to win a category in the competition’s 54 year history and the only Australian to win a category (Invertebrates) in this year’s competition.

Suitable for beginners to intermediate participants.

About Georgina Steytler:

Georgina is an award-winning nature photographer a passion for ethics and bird conservation. Her awards include Wildlife Photographer of the Year (London) (first Australian women to win a category), Bird Photographer of the Year (UK)(Creative), Australian Photography Awards (Wildlife), BirdLife Photography (Tom Oliver Award and Best Photo of the Year) and the much coveted Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year Portfolio Prize (2016).

She is widely published in books and magazines, producing articles, running workshops and giving talks on bird photography throughout Australia. She has been a regular volunteer and long-time member of BirdLife Australia, was previously a committee member and the Competition Co-ordinator for BirdLife Photography and is currently one of the judges of the Australian Bird Photographer of the Year Photo competition.

She has been a regular volunteer and long-time member of Friends of the Western Ground Parrot (an Albany based organisation trying to save a species that, once prolific in the bushland around Albany, is now on the verge of extinction).

She grew up on an orchard in Donnybrook, Western Australia where she developed a love for the natural environment.

She currently lives in Toodyay, WA with her husband (Chris), dog (Tawny) and two baby kangaroos (Possum and Peanut).

Accessibility: Please note that this event is taking place on the 2nd level of the Museum. Unfortunately the Museum doesn't have a lift. All levels are accessible via a ramp. Please allow additionnal time to make your way up to the top level of the Museum. Benches are available at all levels to have a break if required. Free wheelchairs are accessible on loan.
