Please note: This course takes place every Tuesday for eight weeks begining on Tuesday, 8th May 2018. We will meet for one hour at 3.15pm.

Calming Minds ‘8 Week Movement Mindfulness Meditation Programme' for Students

In this busy and hectic world, our children are often the ones struggling to come to terms with schedules, deadlines, academic and social pressures. These stressors impact on a childs behaviour and emotional state both at home and at school.

To cope with the increasing pressures, children need an opportunity to experience the benefits and develop the skills of calming the mind. It is for this reason that the Calming Minds student program is being delivered in schools across WA.

Addressing children’s wellbeing through an 8 Week Movement, Mindfulness and Meditation Programme. A creative way to support the overall wellbeing of children. Children can experience and develop a skill set to manage underlying thought processes and empower them when facing personal challenges.

This programme is held after school hours, one hour a week for eight weeks. These classes equip students with coping skills around stress and anxiety that they can use at pivotal points in their schooling journey. Calming Minds take the whole family approach and provide parents with online support and mindfulness tools to take home.

Calming Minds: ‘8 Week Movement Mindfulness Meditation Programme’

Commencing on the 8th May 2018, at 3.15pm sharp being held in the Library.

Over the 8 week program the following will be covered:

Week 1 Mindfulness:

Your child will learn how to be in the present moment so that they can manage big emotions and access a calmer head space.

Week 2 Positive Self Talk:

Students will be able to recognise their internal dialogue and experience methods to change their perspective to a more positive outlook.

Week 3 Trust:

Your child will recognise when they experience self-doubt and how to overcome these moments by trusting in themselves.

Week 4 Gratitude:

Students identify what they can be thankful for in their lives. We also learn the benefits of being grateful and how to remind ourselves daily.

Week 5 Emotions:

Your child will understand the healthy expression and importance of all emotions and learn ways to avoid being overwhelmed by them.

Week 6 Resilience:

Students look at ways to ‘bounce back’ from moments that don’t go to plan and be able to make connections between our choices, thoughts and actions.

Week 7 Human Connection:

Students are able to recognise healthy and safe emotional and physical connections with others.

Week 8 Love:

Students explore ways they can show kindness to others and how good it can make us feel.
