Philosophy in Schools One Day Conference

Join the Federation of Australasian Philosophy in Schools Associations (FAPSA) in a wonderful one-day conference that celebrates teaching and research in philosophy and ethics in the primary and high school classroom!

With practical hands-on workshops as well as a couple of presentations, this event is well suited to newbies or experienced teachers who enjoy critical thinking, ethical deliberation and wish to encourage such thinking skills in their students.

The full day may be counted as 6 hours (7.5 hours including the evening panel) of ‘teacher identified professional development’ addressing standards 3.3.2 & 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided.

Topics: Philosophy in Schools around the world: the latest initiatives and research from worldwide; Engaging thinking in the Primary Classroom; Philosophy in Public Spaces; What to do with an idea? Using Philosophy to create 21st century thinkers in schools; How to more accurately and transparently assess Philosophical Inquiry; Moral Education in a technological world.

Venue: The University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney campus

Time: 8.30am Registration for 9am start. Sessions finish at 5pm.

6pm – 7:30pm UNDA’s The Institute for Ethics and Society QndA Event Public panel discussion: “How can philosophy help C21st learners?”

Refunds can only be granted up to 7 days prior to the event. After this, the ticket price is forfeited as it covers the cost of catering and venue requirements.
