‘Wonder is the feeling of a philosopher, and philosophy begins in wonder’. — Socrates
About this event
Yarra Council in partnership with Melbourne School of Philosophy is delighted to offer an interactive series of three talks designed for people wondering about life’s bigger questions, or for those interested in Philosophy itself but with little or no experience of the subject.
The course is intended to give a simple introduction of how philosophy may be practical in life, for those seeking to enrich the everyday, engage in facilitated inquiry, gain insight through practice or just to enjoy like-minded company. Using both discussion and a simple contemplative approach, we consider some basic tenets from different philosophical systems arising 2,500 years ago until the present day.
We seek not to provide answers, but to encourage the spirit of inquiry through asking questions.
