Event description

Description

Philanthropy in the Pubis an event for a younger generation of changemakers who are looking at creating social impact in a fun and engaging way, all in a relaxed environment.

It is a place to explore new ways of giving, learn from those who are experienced in giving and hear about the positive impact giving can have on disadvantaged communities. Network and explore social change amongst people with similar values, ideas and personal journeys.

This event is designed for those who are seeking a personal social conscience journey rather then those who are working in the philanthropic industry.

Our next session will be around workplace giving – learn about contributions through payroll giving, employer matching programs and workplacefundraising.

Lisa Grinham: Lisa wants to see communities thrive, with opportunities, safety, health and wellbeing for everyone, and support for communities in crisis. That’s why she is dedicated to creating smart, effective and easy ways for businesses to invest in communities through strategic charity partnerships, online workplace giving, grants and foundations. Under Lisa’s leadership since 2012, Good2Give has digitally transformed workplace giving by developing the most integrated online solution for companies in Australia. Good2Give’s clients include over 20% of the ASX100, and we have granted over $175 million to more than 5500 Australian and international communities since 2001.

Lisa’s career as a business and marketing lead includes experience at 3M, Optus, Aussie Home Loans and IBM. She has been on the Board of the Daystar Foundation since 2006 and is the Chair of the New South Wales state council for the International Women’s Forum.

Angela Kwan:
Angela is the co-founder of Catalyser, a social enterprise providing companies with innovative workplace giving software to help their staff change the world from their workplace. Prior to founding Catalyser, Angela was a corporate lawyer and lived and worked in East Asia for ten 10 years. Her experiences with corporate social responsibility programmes in the law firms and multinational corporations that she worked in and a growing interest in start-ups and social impact inspired Angela to develop Catalyser when she returned to Sydney in 2014.

Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (2004) from the University of Sydney and obtained her Masters of Laws from Harvard University (2010).

Henry Wells:
Henry works as a law graduate at King & Wood Mallesons where he focuses primarily on the risks and impacts of financial technologies including blockchain, smart contracts and digital currencies. He is heavily involved in a number of the firm’s community and charity projects, having previously worked as a law clerk in their dedicated pro bono team.

In 2016, Henry co-authored “Young Australians: Motivations for Workplace Giving”, in collaboration with the Social Impact Hub and the Australian Charities Fund. The paper considers the primary motivators for Young Australians to engage in both charitable giving generally and workplace giving specifically.

Henry is a co-founder and director of Small Change, an online platform and activist tool that allows anyone to add simple donate buttons or petition links to the content they share online. Small Change is a graduate of Sydney University’s ‘Incubate’ accelerator program.

Cost of the event includes 2 x drinks and canapes. Lucky door prize to be won!

Look forward to seeing you there!
