INTERNATIONAL SPEAKERS

Professor Jim Richards

Professor Richards’ research includes much work on clinical application of biomechanics, the development of new assessment tools for chronic disease, conservative and surgical management of orthopaedic and neurological conditions, and development of evidence based approaches for improving clinical management and rehabilitation. The focus of Professor Richards’ work is to encourage inter-professional research and to develop direct parallels with research to the ‘real world’ of allied health work.

YOUR LOCAL SPEAKERS

Dr Satyen Gohil, Orthopaedic Surgeon, MBBS, Fellow of FRACS (Orth)

Dr Satyen Gohil is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in knee and shoulder surgery. Dr Gohil's key surgical interests are in sports injuries of both the knee and shoulder including knee ligament and cartilage surgery and joint replacement of both knee and shoulder. Dr Gohil was born in the UK and has lived in Kenya, UK and has now settled in Perth. Dr Gohil completed his orthopaedic Training on the WA Training scheme and has completed further training in sports injuries of the knee and shoulder as well as joint replacement surgery of the knee and shoulder.

Graham Mckay-Coghill
Graham's credentials are exceptional, possessing a master's in manipulative physiotherapy as well as in health management. He is the sole director of Link Rehabilitation and codirector of Catastrophic Injury Management. Graham has been engaged with St John of God Hospital, Murdoch, for over 20 years, primarily treating spinal and shoulder conditions. He also has a strong sports physiotherapy background having worked in a sports medicine and physiotherapy department for 16 years. Graham's primary interest lies in shoulders, but he treats a wide variety of musculo-skeletal conditions.

Mr Tao Shan Lim MBBS, GDip Surg Anat, FRACS (Orth), FAOrthA
Tao graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2000 and completed his Orthopaedic training in Western Australia. He undertook fellowship training in Arthroscopy and Sports Surgery at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. He returned to Perth in 2012 to establish Joondalup Orthopaedic Group. Tao is Western Australia’s most experienced practitioner of arthroscopic hip labrum repair and all-inside ACL / PCL reconstruction. He has an interest in surgical education and has instructed at training labs in Australia, Asia and Europe.
