Perth Montessori School Parenting Program
"STOP - THINK - DO"
We invite all parents who want to learn evidence-based skills for parenting children. The program will also include learning intervention strategies and skills when dealing with children with difficulties.
These sessions are free for all existing Perth Montessori School families.
For any other interested prospective parents, Pre3Montes Playgroup members or general members of the community - there is a small nominal charge of $10 per session ($120 for the 12 week course) plus booking fee.
The program will run every Wednesday from 9 am - 10 am for twelve (12) hourly sessions, starting from Wednesday 24th of August and running weekly in Term 3 and Term 4 until Wednesday 23rd of November.
Week 1 - 24 August - The Parenting Road (Introduction to the course)
Week 2 - 31 August - Dealing with Attitude and Impulses in dealing with our Children
Week 3 - 7 September - Managing Children's Behaviour Part 1
Week 4 - 14 September - Managing Children's Behaviour Part 2
Week 5 - 21 September - STOP: ‘Look and Listen’
Week 6 - 12 October - STOP: ‘Express feelings honestly’
Week 7 - 19 October - THINK: ‘Think of Solutions’
Week 8 - 26 October - THINK: ‘Consider consequences’
Week 9 - 2 November - DO: ‘Choosing a Solution’
Week 10 - 9 November - DO: ‘Act! Manage the Problem and Follow up
Week 11 - 16 November - Training children Social Skills Part 1
Week 12 - 23 November - Training children Social Skills Part 2
The program will be facilitated by Tibbs Naidoo our resident School Counsellor who has experience in Parent Education. The STOP - THINK - DO approach is applied in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), is reserach-based and is the approach we use with our students in developing Executive Control, managing their choices and helping their decision making processes.
Sessions are short and targetted to allow for application without taking out your entire morning.
