This FREE interactive workshop will include practical, problem solving activities.

Morning tea upon arrival and Lunch are provided.


Topics covered include:

  • Understanding how cultural values and world views affect experience and expectations of palliative care
  • Learning how to elicit culturally significant information in a sensitive way for a positive impact on client encounters
  • Learning how to plan for the culturally relevant needs of clients, families and friends
  • Learning how to see that a communication problem is occurring and to apply effective strategies to resolve it.


Aim of the workshop:

To enable health professionals to move beyond “cultural awareness” to develop the confidence and practical skills to deliver effective and respectful services to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.


Target audience:

People working in the health and aged care sector who care for culturally diverse clients/patients with life-limiting illnesses. The workshop is limited to 20 places, so register early.


Workshop presenters:

The workshop will be presented in partnership with Palliative Care Victoria and will be delivered by Judith Miralles and Associates who are recognised nationally and internationally as experts in the provision of cross-cultural training and materials development in the health sector.

Times 10.00am to 2.45pm (registration from 9.30am).
