About this event

Drawing on the perspectives of people with lived experience, frontline workers, academics and experts, our webinars are a chance to deepen your understanding of contemporary social justice issues in our communities, shape our response, and become part of our network for change.

People seeking asylum: Protection and the pandemic

Refugee week is an opportunity to celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees and people seeking asylum in our communities, and to raise awareness of the barriers they encounter. While Vinnies has long supported people arriving in Australia seeking safety and looking to rebuild their lives, political decisions continue to result in poverty and exclusion. With governments’ responses to the pandemic risking further harm, the refugee sector identified five key priorities to protect the well-being of people seeking asylum. Hear from Society people and our partner agencies about the response to date, and the impact on people seeking asylum in our communities.

To allow for a participatory experience, the numbers for each webinar will be capped . Where there is strong demand, we will schedule repeat webinars where possible. Participants who register for our webinars will automatically be added to our social justice mailing list.
