Paul Bangay's Stonefields Open Garden - Sunday, 18 November 2018

Event Information

Denver, VIC

Event description

World renowned landscape designer Paul Bangay is once again opening the gates to Stonefields, his spectacular 16-hectare private central Victorian property on Saturday and Sunday, 17 and 18 November, from 10.00 am–6.00 pm to raise money for the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation.

Paul Bangay has sculpted Stonefields from a paddock 15 years ago into his own concept of country living. Evoking classic English and French horticulture, Paul has integrated modern geometric lines with an elegant approach, yielding a harmonious union of old and new.

A walking tour of the gardens will reveal layers of spectacular colour and timeless design. Stonefields is rarely open to the public and this event offers garden lovers and food enthusiasts an exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes at one of Australia’s most celebrated gardens.

What’s happening in addition to the gardens:

  • Fine food and beverage stalls.
  • Handmade and seasonal keepsakes created by local school students.
  • Community Market.
  • Rare and unusual plants for sale.
  • Private tours with Paul Bangay, sponsored by Ross Garden Tours. Limited tickets so book early.
  • Paul and Stephanie will be signing books, which will be available to buy.

Why do I have to choose the time of my visit, and how does it work?

  • The staggered entrance times have been designed to ensure the right number of visitors in the gardens at any one time so that each guest can enjoy the optimal viewing experience.
  • For general admission, there are four sessions to choose from: 10:00 am–12:00 pm, 12:00 pm–2:00 pm, 2:00 pm–4:00 pm, and 4:00 pm–6:00 pm. We estimate that two hours will provide you ample time to view the gardens and visit the Community Market. However, you’re most welcome to enjoy the gardens at your own pace.

Can I arrive earlier or later than our entrance time?

  • We ask that you arrive within the time printed on your ticket.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • The Official Car Park is located off-site at 626 Daylesford-Malmsbury Road, Wheatsheaf VIC 3461. On arrival, you will be directed to coaches departing every 10 minutes for a short ride to Stonefields. Spring Hill CFA and Tylden CFA are operating the Official Car Park for a gold coin donation per vehicle to support their work.
  • There is limited parking available at our on-site Premium Car Park at Mains Road, Denver. The Premium Car Park, sponsored by ULR Jaguar Land Rover, must be booked online and in advance of the event weekend. The cost is $30 per vehicle and all proceeds go to the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation. Only Premium Car Park ticket holders can enter Mains Road.

Can I book a Private Tour?

  • Yes, book an exclusive Private Tour of Stonefields with Paul Bangay and discover the stories behind the gardens. Sponsored by Ross Garden Tours, this is a tailored experience and tickets are strictly limited. Private tours are scheduled to take place from 8.30 am–9.30 am on Saturday and Sunday, 17 and 18 November. Ticket price includes complimentary on-site parking at the Premium Car Park and a wonderful gift bag with mementos to take home with you. Don’t miss out.

How much is entrance for children?

  • Children under 12 enter free.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

  • Yes. We strongly advise that you to print out your ticket in advance, as the internet connection in and around Stonefields can be patchy. Please arrive within the time printed on your ticket and have it ready to be scanned on your arrival.
  • If you have purchased a Premium Car Park, you will have a second ticket for entry between the times printed on the ticket. You will also receive a link to download and print out your Premium Car Park Access Pass for display on your dashboard.

What food and beverages will be available?

  • A wonderful selection of fine food and beverage stalls, featuring local ingredients.

What's the refund policy?

  • Due to high demand, tickets are non-refundable and not interchangeable.

Is Stonefields wheelchair and pram friendly?

  • Key elements of the garden’s design, such as steep slopes, steps and narrow pebbled paths, means that the site is not accessible to wheelchairs or prams.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

  • Email events@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au
