Description

Heritage Festival 2017 - Walking Tour

Long gone are the nine convict huts, the 200 acres of Indian corn and the dense woods once found at Petersham. These days the area is a place of cultural diversity, heritage infrastructure and Portuguese delicacies. The earliest landowners at Taverner's Hill included several prominent citizens: barrister Dr Robert Wardell, explorer William Charles Wentworth and philanthropist Thomas Moore. On this walk we'll see the now defunct old dairies and abattoirs, imagine a day at the races and admire Sydney's grandest suburban railway station.

Please bring a bottle of water, hat and sunscreen.
