FREE field day for cattle graziers - managing pastures and cattle health in the dry

About this Event

2019 is set to be one of the driest on record in the Tweed with most areas receiving 800mm – 1000mm below the long-term average.

A range of strategies and tools are available to assist graziers make decisions about feed budgets and stock numbers during extreme weather events.

These options will be explored with NSW Department of Primary Industries – Education Officer, Carol Rose and North Coast Local Land Services – Senior Land Services Officer, Nathan Jennings.

The field day will cover:

  • Getting to know your pasture species and what they tell you about land management and soil health
  • Withstanding weather extremes with good pasture management
  • Calculating feed budgets, stocking rates and selling v feeding cattle
  • Tactics for dealing with dry conditions
