Passata Day
Event Information
About this Event
You're invited to our "Passata Day" where you get to share in a traditional sauce making experience just like thousands of Italian families do every year.
Passata Day is a long loved tradition where Italian families from all over the world come together to make, bottle and preserve tomato passata. But, the call of tomato sauce day stands for so much more than the jars of sauce stacked up at the end of the day. It also stands for family, the coming together of generations, and for making something together, that can be shared by all.
So.......prepare to get messy, laugh and share in some of the freshest and tastiest local produce around!
The itineray is:
Welcome and introductions
Making Tomato Sauce
Preparing Tomatoes & Mincing
Bottling & Sealing
Sharing of light lunch (to test our sauce!)
What to wear & bring?
Wear comfortable closed-toe shoes and clothing. Hair shoulder length or longer must be tied back; excessive jewelry to be avoided.
Please bring a plate to share for morning tea, an apron, knife, 2 tea towels, and 2-3 medium size jars to take home your sauce (please ensure they have metal lids).
In addition, if you have any dietry requirements, please let me know prior to the event, as we will be sharing a light lunch to test our sauce making skills (lunch will be vegan and vegetarian friendly).
*As this event is run by volunteers, the donation of $20 helps cover the cost of produce that needs to be bought.
