About this Event

BOOKINGS FOR THIS SESSION WILL OPEN IN FEBRUARY

Come to the 2nd workshop and working bee and celebrate using Indigenous food producing plants of the Adelaide Hills - a partnership between the Old School Community Garden(OSCG) and the Hut Community Centre.

What to expect at this Workshop?

Learn from Peramangk & Kaurna Elder, Ivan-Tiwu Copley about the historic and present use of local native plants in food, medicine and culture; experience a demonstration in the use of bush foods in cooking; and gain valuable knowledge while working with Jenny Deans, a professional Horticulturalist, to create a bush foods trail on the grounds of the OSCG that will be later used as an educational tool for school children and other garden visitors.

Also, enjoy a delectable selection of afternoon tea and bush treats, available for purchase on the day, which will assist OSCG in raising funds to guarantee the continuance of the gardens. Note: cash sales only

Children under 12 years of age may participate for free, however, adult supervision is required at all times. To assist in planning, please answer the question about the number of children attending, who are under 12 years of age, when you book online.

You may take advantage of group buying by ordering plants on the day, for use in your own garden. An order form will be provided to all participants.

Please wear sturdy shoes/boots and clothes suitable for gardening - appropriate to the weather, such as sun hat/rain jacket. It is helpful to bring your own gardening gloves and small hand tools, if possible.

Please Note: This event will proceed in inclement weather, however, in the event of a major storm or extreme or higher fire-risk weather, the event will be cancelled.
