Event description

Description

Join Pollinate Energy as we explore our next topic under our series theme of The Ethics of Energy Access and Consumption.

For our first event in Sydney, we explored the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 7, it's 2030 targets, and the ethical implications trying to meet, or failing to meet these targets.

For Part 2 of the the series, we will be aksing the question "To connect or not to connect - what role can the traditional grid play in solving energy poverty?"

Our panelists include

Alex Houlston - Co-founder and Director of Energy for the People
Energy for the People aims to leverage the great energy market transition towards clean, distributed energy solutions in support of communities, including regional towns, affordable housing and new build precincts. Its social purpose is addressing youth homelessness through employment.

Dr Jonathan Balls is a New Generation Network Scholar at the Australia India Institute and the School of Geography, University of Melbourne.
His research occupies the intersection of economic geography, development studies, and sustainable energy infrastructure. He works on the expansion of distributed energy markets in India and on frugal innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

Additional panellists to be announced shortly
