Description

Overview

Following the My Health Record expansion program, all Australians will have a record by the end of 2018 unless they indicate that they do not want one. This will support timely access to important health information by both patients and their treating healthcare providers, and improve patient health outcomes.

This workshop will introduce the My Health Record system and explore its features and functionalities, and benefits and uses, as they relate to pharmacy practice. The workshop will prepare participants to engage with the system and integrate it with their clinical workflow.

Light refreshments, tea/coffee and workshop materials will be provided.

Networking and refreshments from 7pm.

Workshop to commence at 7:30pm.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  • List the features and benefits of My Health Record in pharmacy practices
  • Describe how to communicate the benefits of the My Health Record system to patients
  • Describe the privacy and security measures taken to protect My Health Record and how to discuss privacy concerns
  • Describe how more comprehensive clinical information (access via My Health Record) can contribute to patient care
