Introducing PiP
We believe that we are all more effective when we work together to support our fine young men and women of St Peters. As part of our commitment to supporting our families, St Peters is running a program for the parents of our Prep/Year 1, Year 7 and Year 10 called Parents in Partnership (PiP).
Please note - this program is only open to parents who have children in the relevant grade (i.e. Prep/Year 1, Year 7 or Year 10).
What does the program cover?
PiP provides information that is relevant to parents of children at a particular age (i.e. Prep/Year 1, Yr 7, Yr 10). In broad terms, we are covering four main areas:
- Developmental knowledge - understanding current and future child development.
- Parenting practices - knowledge and behaviours associated with parenting strategies.
- Mental Health Literacy - understanding the ways to manage the spectrum of mental health and wellbeing issues, including guidance on how to best manage these situations at home.
- Parent support for the Academic Care and Wellbeing program (ACAW) - understanding the College’s key ACAW goals and how parents can support their child through this program.
For Term 1, we’ll be covering:
1. Developing and maintaining a healthy relationship with your teenager
- Clear expectations and consequences
- Positive reinforcement and affection
2. Modelling and encouraging helpful communication
3. Supporting your teen to manage their emotions
4. Parent suggestions for working with the school
