Description

Join us for our Parenting Seminar Series where Dr Michael Carr-Gregg will explore the ten most important things you should tell your children to build happiness and resilience. This second session has been added due to the popularity of the first event.

“Why do we need a community talk on building happy and resilient children?
Simple – the journey from childhood through to young adulthood seems to have become so much harder to navigate,” said Dr. Michael Carr-Gregg.

“Just when a young person's identity and sense of self is at its most fragile, they are facing more potential rejection and judgment courtesy of social media, than even the most robust of egos could handle,” he said. “Like never before, as parents, carers, other adults we need the skills, knowledge and strategies to promote resilience in young people.”

Dr Michael Carr-Gregg is one of Australia's highest profile adolescent and child psychologists. He currently works within private practice as well as consulting to Inowell a joint project between PWC, the University of Sydney and the Federal Government. He wrote his PhD at the University of NSW on Adolescents with Cancer and named and founded CanTeen more than 30 years ago with a group of young cancer patients. He has worked as an academic, researcher, and political lobbyist. He is also the author of 12 books and is an Ambassador for Smiling Mind, Big Brothers Big Sister, and sits on the Board of the Family Peace Foundation and the National Centre Against Bullying. He is a columnist for a number of publications including the Huffington Post, Girlfriend Magazine and the Australian Boarding Schools Association publication LightsOut. Michael is the resident parenting expert on Channel 7's Sunrise, a psychologist for Channel 9’s Morning Extra, as well as the Morning Show with Neil Mitchell on Radio 3AW. He is married with 2 sons and is a special Patron of the Hawthorn Football Club.
