Parenting Children with ADHD Workshop: 4 Hours to Less Stress & More Parenting Confidence!

Speaker: Vivian Dunstan

ADHD is definitely not caused by poor parenting, but it is widely recognised that parent training specifically aimed at parenting children with ADHD, can help improve symptoms for the child, parental stress and family life in general.

The best parent training informs and educates parents about the symptoms and associated co-morbidities of ADHD enabling parents to change their view on their child’s challenging behaviour, thus helping them to embrace a positive attitude which is so important for parent-child relationship building.

It provides parents with the strategies and tools that work for the challenges they face with their ADHD children. Parents are encouraged to set realistic expectations for their child and establish a positive parent-child relationship by recognising and supporting the child’s strengths and talents and understanding the best way of communicating with their child.

Your thoughts and awareness about ADHD really can change your child’s behaviour, their life and your family’s reality!

This 4-hour workshop features the core principles from Vivian’s popular 6-week Parenting Children with ADHD course.

It will provide you with a solid foundation from which to begin to understand ADHD and better navigate family life.

This workshop is suitable for parents/carers of both ADHD children and teens.

The goal of this workshop is to inform and empower you to work together with your child to cope with the many difficulties of ADHD by offering practical, workable strategies that will make a difference in the lives of all family members.

It will help you to:

  • Understand your child’s ADHD world & how it affects them and those around them
  • Become informed & empowered to work together with your child to overcome ADHD challenges whilst championing their strengths
  • Learn how to work collaboratively & proactively for effective problem solving with your child
  • Learn practical behaviour management strategies vital to success with your child
  • Create better family routines & relationships
  • Understand the importance of effective self-care
  • Successfully advocate for your child at school
  • Build self-esteem through skills, focussing on strengths & fostering a growth mindset in your child
  • Increase your ADHD parenting skills and confidence
  • Decrease stress & create a calmer home life

About Vivian

Vivian Dunstan is the Founder & Organiser of ADHD Support Australia and has been advocating for and supporting the ADHD community since 2013 through monthly expert speakers, social meetups, workshops, self-care events, a membership site and various online ADHD communities.

She is the author of the ADHD Support Australia website which includes not only information on ADHD but a directory of ADHD professionals, services & resources and an expert blog.

Vivian has been facilitating the popular Parenting Children with ADHD 6-week course for the past 4 years and has recently created an online version to allow more parents to access the course.

With a Masters of Teaching (Primary), Vivian is also a non-practicing, qualified teacher, facilitator of Parenting Children with ADHD, a PEERS social skills coach, former RAISE mentor and most importantly an experienced mum to an ADHD daughter.  She has navigated her way through the past 22 years with an ADHD child, teen and now young adult.  Apart from ADHD, Vivian’s daughter has also been challenged with many co-morbid learning and mental health issues as well as chronic fatigue syndrome, gut issues, coeliac disease and a host of food intolerances.

Vivian’s love of learning and insistence on getting to the root of any problem has seen her research deeply into every challenge that’s come her way. So along with organising over 80 expert speaker events, attending conferences, trainings, workshops and her addiction to podcasts and books she has gained an enormous breadth of knowledge in all aspects of ADHD, including both conventional and holistic supports and strategies.

What some of Vivian’s parenting course attendees have said:

“In so many years of research this has been the most helpful and I am so grateful for the visible results in my stepson and also in our relationship thanks to this course. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, this course is a life-changer.”

“Despite many years of psychologists and Google research I hadn’t been able to find really tangible action advice on how to parent my ADHD child until I came across Vivian’s parenting workshop.”

“Vivian is very knowledgeable and breaks down the information in an easy to digest way using her relaxed and fun approach to teaching.”

“When I didn’t know what to do next or where to go, I found your parenting course and I could relax knowing I was gaining the knowledge I needed to travel this unexpected road with my family.”

“The course was invaluable because it explained the disorder simply and with great insight but then went through the various facets with actual plans for what to do and why it works. I’ve implemented many of the ideas, which have shown very positive results, and importantly learnt what not to do and how what I was doing was often exacerbating the problem.”

“A fab course. Just do it!”
