Event description

Description

If your child has access to a mobile phone, laptop, tablet or any other internet-enabled device – or if they have any friends or siblings that do – it is very likely that they will see pornography, even if they never seek it out. For many young people, it’s now harder to avoid pornography than to see it. Awareness of the expectations other young people may develop as a result of what they watch and how this can impact on your child is also important. As the most prominent sex educator for many young people, pornography is teaching some very problematic lessons – about bodies, sexual health, pleasure, consent, gender, power, aggression and performance.

Maree Crabbe, Coordinator of community education project ‘Reality and Risk: Pornography, young people and sexuality’ will join us to discuss some of the facts and practical strategies to assist in equipping you as parents to talk to your daughters about these issues.

Come along and join other Strathcona parents and hear Maree provide some practical strategies to help guide your daughters through these areas.

This event is for parents with teen daughters or those entering the teen years.

Tickets: This is a free event. Please reserve your place here.
