Parent Cyber Safety Education Session
Wed. 9 November 2016, 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm AWST
Invitation to Parents
Today, technology has become an essential part of our kid’s education, developmental and social experience. However as fundamental and exciting as connected technology can be, it is creating challenges for parents, schools and communities.
Challenges include excessive screen time, apps developed to deceive parents, inadvertent access to adult material, sexualisation, gaming and addictive disorders, sexting, grooming and more.
Cyber safety is without doubt one of, if not, the major issue facing our community today.
And so we are delighted to have ySafe joining us for an important Cyber Safety Event.
WHEN: Wednesday 9th November, 6pm-7pm
WHERE: St Paul's Primary School
ABOUT THIS EVENT
At this event you will be given a run down of current social media and gaming trends including the hottest and most risky apps in use in our community.
You will also be updated on the frightening trends in cyber grooming, bullying and online predators.
And importantly you will be provided with practical ideas on setting up a cyber safe home, including how to set and enforce boundaries, how and what parental control technology to use and general digital age parenting tips.
If you’ve ever struggled with getting your kids off their games and into bed, worried about knowing what your child is accessing online, or felt concerned that your child was spending too much time in the digital world, this session is for you!
