Join us for a series of lunchtime talks for our new exhibition, Parasites: Life Undercover.

How do you vaccinate against one of the most infamous infections in the world? Dr Danny Wilson will talk about the Plasmodium parasite, and his work on malaria vaccines.

Dr Danny Wilson completed his PhD in July 2009 at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne where he characterised the protective potential for a major malaria vaccine target. He has since identified new drug development strategies and developed tools that have greatly improved our understanding of malaria vaccine and drug targets. Dr. Wilson has been awarded a national NHMRC Early Career Fellowship (2011) and project grants (2013, 2017) that led to him establishing his lab at the Research Centre for Infectious Diseases (RCID), the University of Adelaide, in 2014. Dr. Wilson and his team continue to work towards the goal of developing new agents to fight malaria and have established national and international collaborations to fast-track development of new antimalarial strategies.
