About this event
Parallel Echoes
(wish we could stay longer)
Over the past three weeks, students from the University of Tasmania’s School of Creative Arts and Media have been developing new works in response to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery’s latest exhibition, Gay Hawkes: The House of Longing. This will culminate in an evening showcase, with a range of witty and interesting provocations developed by the students in and around the exhibition.
House of Longing is a major exhibition by Tasmanian furniture maker and sculptor, Gay Hawkes, that catalogues her incredible practice as an artist and educator over 40 years, as well as her creative resilience in the wake of the devastating 2013 Dunalley bushfire.
Join TMAG and UTAS for this special event, Thursday 30 June from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Entry via Argyle Street
About Creative Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum is a series of units that University of Tasmania students in Music, Media and Communication, Theatre and Performance, and Fine Arts undertake together. By bringing everyone together across the school, we create new experimental environments for collaboration. We partner with the most interesting arts and cultural organisations and events to help guide our students through study, set challenges, and provide them with networks outside of the university.
About the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery
Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is Tasmania's leading natural and cultural heritage organisation. It is a combined museum, art gallery and herbarium which safeguards the physical evidence of Tasmania's natural and cultural heritage, and the cultural identity of Tasmanians.
