Description

With Claire Halliday, Danny Katz and Jo Stanley

In Things My Father Taught Me, author Claire Halliday interviewed a diverse range of interesting Australians - including Jo Stanley and Danny Katz - about the impact their fathers had on their lives and the lessons they learned from their parents.

What makes writers expose personal relationships and experiences in their writing? How do loved ones and close friends react to being the focus of their writing? Join Claire Halliday, Danny Katz and Jo Stanley for a discussion about the cross-section of their personal, professional and public selves and what their narrative reveals about themselves.

Claire Halliday started her career as a freelance feature writer for The Sunday Age more than 20 years ago. Since then, more than 1000 of her articles have appeared in a range of publications. Things My Father Taught Me is her 5th non-fiction book – a collection of interviews with interesting Australians who share stories about the impact their father had on their lives.

Danny Katz is a newspaper columnist for The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald. He is the Modern Guru in the Good Weekend magazine and the author of many books for adults, teenagers and kids, including Spit the Dummy, SCUM, No Thanks Hanks, and the Little Lunch series (now a TV show on ABC ME).

Jo Stanley is a comedian, writer, actor and presenter. She spent 10 years as one of Melbourne’s most loved breakfast radio entertainers on the Matt and Jo Show on Fox FM, and can now be heard on Gold 104.3’s breakfast show, Jo and Lehmo. Jo appears regularly on all networks of Australian television, on shows such as The Project, The Today Show and Studio 10. She writes for newspapers and magazines around the country, including a regular column in Sunday Life Magazine. In 2017 Jo will publish Play Like a Girl, her first book series aimed at girls aged 7-12 years.
