The workshop aims to enhance the capacity of health professions to deliver palliative care for people with a life limiting illness.
About this event
Program Objective:
PEPA is funded by the Department of Health and is aimed at preparing Australia's health workforce to deliver quality, holistic, person-centred and culturally responsive care to people with a life-limiting illness.
Aim of workshop:
Develop an understanding of how to recognise when a patient is approaching end of life and identify what their needs are.
Target Audience:
Advanced Practice clinicians working in GRACE and HITH
Topics Include:
- Palliative Approach to Care: what is it and how does it work in ACT
- Needs Rounds: identifying a palliative patient, establishing goals of care, navigating difficult conversation
- Pharmacological Considerations at End Of Life: DE-prescribing, anticipatory prescribing and syringe drivers
- Palliative Emergencies: pain crisis, delirium, bowel obstructions and seizures, spinal cord compression
- Self Care
