Description

ABOUT THIS EVENT: PLANTS WITH WANDA
Wanda Comrie is an Australian fine artist, maker and passionate creative living in the Margaret River region. In this class, we will explore one of her many 'liddle' oil paintings of indoor plants, set against a strong colour palette characteristic of Wanda's work.

(Note: Wanda is not running this class -- it's a tribute, as our host artist is a big fan of her work!)

Classe Petit's Social Painting with Oils sessions are a fun way to meet new people, rediscover your love for painting or simply explore what creativity means to you in a relaxing, supportive environment. Our painting events include a brief 10-minute introduction to oils for complete beginners.

In each session, we use at least one modern masterpiece to inspire our own work. We're not after reproductions – instead we fully encourage everyone to tell their own story by creating your own version of the featured art. You'll be surprised at what you come up with; in fact you'll fall in love with it and be proud to call it your own.

Each session only hosts up to 10 people. No experience necessary, just an open mind :-)

What you will learn:

  • Basic skills on how to start sketching / painting with oils

  • Learn about modern art and famous artists, from Pablo Picasso to Gustav Klimt

  • Learn from the masters by creating your own version of their artwork

What you will get:

  • 30x40cm canvas for painting. Take home your masterpiece!

  • A small selection of wine, tea and vegan-friendly nibbles will be provided. You are welcome to BYO drinks too!

  • Personalised guidance based on your needs

What to bring:

  • BYO materials (or hire a kit from us for $15)

  • Your painting will still be wet and workable, do bring a bag or a cover if you need to take public transport after the class

--

Classe Petit focuses on the journey, not the destination. In our class, we don’t talk about what’s “correct” or “proper”; we encourage free explorations of ideas and techniques, which very often leads to discovering a whole new world of possibilities!

FAQs

What's included in the kit hire?

Brushes, oil paints (primary red, primary yellow, primary blue, white, burnt sienna), and a palette knife.

If I'm choosing to bring my own materials, what do I need?

Please bring:

  • Brushes

  • Paint

  • Palette knife

  • (optional) Your preferred mediums or mixing oils, and anything else you like having with you! We provide everyone with a palette, solvent (Gamblin Gamsol) and refined linseed oil (Art Spectrum). Please refrain from bringing solvents/turps as we don't want strong smells in the space (unless you are bringing Gamsol!)

  • Canvases are included in all tickets so you will not need to bring one.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?
