About this event

The Paediatric Obesity Health Transformers Committee (POHT-C) invite you to attend their showcase for 2021, which will be held virtually on Wednesday 24 November, 9am – 11.30am.

We’ll have a chance to discuss the latest local and national strategies in the prevention and management of childhood obesity, and plan for 2022 and beyond.

Paediatrician Dr Louise Alison Baur AM, FAHMS, Chair Child & Adolescent Health, University of Sydney and Director of the Centre of Research Excellence in the Early Prevention of Obesity in Childhood will be our guest speaker. Dr Baur will be joined by Health and Wellbeing Queensland’s Chief Executive Dr Robyn Littlewood and Senior Director of Health Promotion Judy Nean, and Director at Metro South Health, Trudi Sebasio on a panel to discuss the biggest challenges and opportunities to truly impact childhood obesity in Queensland and answer your questions.

They’ll also be joined by a Queensland parent who will bring invaluable insights on the challenges of supporting their children to be a healthy weight and what they are looking for from clinicians.

The committee will also be discussing the development of a 10-year plan for action to prevent and reduce overweight and obesity in Queensland and you will have a chance to have your say on the actions needed.
