Description

Dear PADI Members,

PADI Asia Pacific is pleased to announce a series of Risk Management Seminars to be held in Indonesia in April. These seminars will feature a recorded presentation by Associate Professor Simon Mitchell on the traps and pitfalls of a non-medical expert (read “diving professional’s) in diagnosing DCS based on the symptoms observed. The presentation was recorded at the Dive Safety Symposium held in Cairns in September last year.

Over the years, PADI has presented seminars illustrating a number of topics that cause diving accidents. This year we will also discuss dive fatality statistics for the past 10 years and point out a few “hot topics” that have been the causative factor in these fatalities.

We will also talk about some amazing success stories where our training and devotion to our students really does save the day.

We all know that scuba diving has inherent risks, and that to minimize those risk PADI has developed a system of work detailed in the PADI Instructor Manual. We also know that the system of work, supported by the PADI Membership Commitment, Code of Practice, does not prevent accidents if the system of work is not followed.

We look forward to seeing you at this seminar, which is open to all PADI members, Divemaster candidates, and all PADI dive center staff.

If you have not signed up and find that you are able to attend at the last minute, please do so.

Sincerely,

Richard Evans
